Decomposition of carbon emission reduction efficiency and potential for clean energy power: Evidence from 58 countries

چکیده

With more countries committing to achieving carbon neutrality targets by midcentury mitigate global climate change, it is necessary replace the combustion of fossil fuels in power industry with clean energy and improve CO2 reduction efficiency (CRE) energy. Therefore, this study introduces a multi-hierarchy meta-frontier data envelopment analysis (DEA) approach estimate inefficiency (CRI) potential nuclear three renewable industries 58 countries, which are decomposed into components industrial technology gaps, regional management levels derived from heterogeneities regions industries. The dynamic performance emissions then analyzed. main results as follows. (1) Among each region, China, USA, Russia have greater average CRE values 0.6605, 0.4817 0.7486 for clean-energy 2011 2018, respectively. assessment using frontier evaluation criterion yields greatest efficiency. when benchmark compared use meta-frontier. (2) Currently, Asia, America, Europe CRI 0.3262, 0.4706 0.3831 industry, need improvements structure, internal management, Hydropower has lower than solar wind power, Asia having highest at nearly 700 Mt; primary reason inefficiency, while America it's development. large recorded especially where 0.7957 0.7320, (3) improves an 2.27% primarily due technological progress technical In response these findings, targeted policy implications developed strengthen transition advanced technologies options maximizing mitigation.
